Zillion SAL
Line advanced supervisor

The SAL is an advanced line supervision device designed to digitalise outgoing feeders in existing low-voltage switchboards by leveraging the fuse switch units already installed across the network. It acts as a functional extension of the fuse switch, adding advanced electrical monitoring capabilities without requiring any switchboard redesign.

SAL natively integrates Zillion’s Advanced Supervision Board (TSA), enabling the capture, processing and transmission of electrical parameters with the same accuracy and consistency as the rest of the ecosystem. Its design is also compatible with third-party monitoring boards, providing flexibility for projects where interoperability is required.

For proper installation, SAL is connected directly to the outgoing side of the fuse switch. As a result, line conductors must be equipped with ring terminals to ensure a secure connection. Once installed, the device becomes a natural extension of the fuse switch, guaranteeing reliable acquisition of electrical signals.

As part of the Zillion ecosystem, SAL represents a practical first step towards progressive grid digitalisation, enabling utilities to evolve from conventional protection systems to advanced electrical monitoring capabilities.

Value Proposition

  • Digitalisation through existing infrastructure

SAL adds advanced electrical monitoring capabilities directly to existing fuse switch installations, eliminating the need to replace the entire switchboard. By leveraging assets already deployed across the network, utilities can accelerate digitalisation while minimising investment and installation work.

  • Native TSA integration

With Zillion’s Advanced Supervision Board (TSA) integrated as standard, SAL delivers consistent measurement and monitoring capabilities across the entire ecosystem. This ensures reliable, comparable data and a unified approach to low-voltage network supervision.

  • Compatibility and flexibility

In addition to native TSA integration, SAL is compatible with third-party monitoring boards, making it easy to deploy within mixed architectures or technology transition projects. This flexibility allows utilities to integrate advanced monitoring capabilities while preserving interoperability with existing systems.

  • Secure mechanical integration

The ring-terminal connection on the outgoing side of the fuse switch ensures a robust mechanical installation and reliable acquisition of electrical signals. This approach provides a secure interface between the monitoring device and the existing network infrastructure, supporting long-term operational reliability.

Primary use case

Progressive digitalisation of existing low-voltage switchboards** SAL is designed for the progressive digitalisation of existing low-voltage switchboards by adding advanced electrical monitoring capabilities to outgoing feeders already protected by installed fuse switch units. It is particularly well suited as a first-stage monitoring solution, providing valuable electrical visibility without replacing existing protection infrastructure. In this role, SAL acts as an advanced line supervisor, enabling utilities to begin their digitalisation journey while preserving their current protection assets and minimising upgrade costs.

What does SAL monitor?

Line and phase currents

SAL monitors line and phase currents directly at the fuse switch level, providing accurate electrical measurements for each outgoing feeder. This enables continuous visibility of load conditions and network behaviour, supporting more effective supervision of low-voltage distribution networks

Voltage measurements

SAL monitors the voltage associated with each outgoing feeder, providing the electrical data required for a comprehensive view of network operating conditions. Combined with current measurements, this information supports advanced supervision and analysis of low-voltage distribution networks.

Three-phase electrical parameters

Through the integrated TSA, SAL captures and processes key three-phase electrical parameters, delivering consistent and reliable data for advanced feeder supervision. This enables utilities to gain deeper insight into network performance and operating conditions as part of their digitalisation strategy.

Operational and diagnostic insights

SAL provides access to key electrical information for network diagnostics and day-to-day operation. The availability of real-time feeder data helps utilities improve network visibility, support informed decision-making and enhance the management of low-voltage distribution assets.

Integration within the Zillion ecosystem

SAL serves as a bridge between conventional protection systems and advanced electrical monitoring. By integrating Zillion’s TSA and connecting directly to existing fuse switch installations, it enables utilities to begin the digitalisation of their low-voltage networks in a structured, scalable and consistent way. As part of the broader Zillion ecosystem, SAL ensures alignment with existing monitoring architectures, supporting a progressive transition towards greater network visibility and data-driven operation.
